Happy Easter!

I’m on my way back to Atlanta from visiting my best friend in Pittsburgh. And it’s been a really relaxing, refreshing trip, literally just what I needed.

Happy Easter everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve really reflected on its meaning. I woke up at 8:50 am to watch North Point’s 9 AM service (thanks to online live video streaming!) Andy Stanley’s messages always speak so much truth to me. He doesn’t preach at people. He sits and reasons through everything in the most logical ways. For the past few weeks he’s been talking about christianity and how people perceive christians. I realized that among my friends, none of them were the ideal “christian.” I mean really how many of us are that? No one. Yet people perceive christians as being judgmental, perfect, goody-two-shoes, and hypocritical people who stand around and glare at others. Andy started talking about how Jesus’ resurrection was so important to faith. That they go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other. This got me thinking about what happens after we all die - the afterlife if you will. And I realized, with all of the forces against me, and the fact that I do not consider myself a good Christian at all, it’s too hard to get my friends to understand all that Christianity has to offer. There’s really so much grace and mercy that I’ve discovered in the past couple of months. I thank God for giving me the patience when I need it, and the desire to really change how angry and unsatisfying my soul is sometimes. It’s a slow but sure process, something no one can see, and I’m sure no one notices. Yet how can I be what Andy says we should be, the salt and light of the world without turning people away? Plenty of my friends are skeptical and plenty of them far from their walk with Christ, and yet I feel like I am so inadequate in guiding them. I do what I think people would appreciate of me, to the point where I want them to be able to trust me and truly know that i’ll be there to help whenever. Where do I stand in terms of attracting people to the love and forgiving heart that is what I know through Christianity? It disappoints me when I feel so hopeless about things, but then I remember that everything has a plan. That one way or another good things happen. That there’s always a new beginning, a fresh start. A chance to put our faith and keep our faith in what we know. And this is what I’ve learned this Easter. That there’s beauty in whatever you do in this world, and that there’s so much more to be offered when I find the strength and stability that I’m looking for in a relationship with Christ.

Happy easter!
